Daniel Buren for his new project at Galerie Thomas Schulte is going to transform the gallery’s prominent window on the corner of Leipziger Straße and Charlottenstraße. Since the 1960s, Buren uses the iconic 8,7 cm wide stripes as a ‘visual tool’ for his works in situ. The stripes, chosen for their neutralising and anonymysing effects, which the artist applies to walls, windows, and other architectural features, serve as a political intervention dissolving existing distinctions between inside and outside, private and public.
