Sala Rekalde presents the exhibition Le musée imaginaire by Benoît Broisat (Bonneville, France, 1980), as part of the Mapamundistas 2014, and in collaboration with the French Institute in Bilbao.
The artist sets out to create his perfect collection of masterpieces, based on the premise that major artworks are part of humanity’s heritage: in other words, they belong to each and every one of us. Using the memory of each piece, or more precisely, the mental image each person retains based on their own perception, Benoît Broisat has made small objects. He has subsequently created a new setting in which to place the replicas of the pieces, a digital and interactive environment that ends up constituting his own "imaginary museum".
