From 2009 to 2014, the Institut für Raumexperimente (Institute for Spatial Experiments), under the direction of Olafur Eliasson and co-directors Eric Ellingsen and Christina Werner, and in affiliation with the Berlin University of the Arts, served as an internationally recognized project for arts education and research.

To mark the conclusion of this era, the Festival of Future Nows takes place at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin from October 30th to November 1st, 2014, bringing together works by more than 100 former participants and grantees, associated artists, and guest lecturers. The festival’s programme of performances, sculptures, talks, and installations – all to be held within the exhibition David Chipperfield – Sticks and Stones and in the areas surrounding the museum – offers visitors many opportunities for both reflection and active participation.
