Neue Arbeiten
7 March - 10 May 2014

Konrad Fischer Galerie is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition with new sculptures by Tony Cragg.

His new bronze works allude - sometimes explicitly and sometimes in a playful way - to earlier works from the 1990ies and in particular to the ‚Early Forms’ as well as to later coloured bronzes like ‚Red Square’ or ‚McCormack’ (both 2007). Several aspects of these works seem to echo in the new sculptures which can be seen as conceptual and sculptural reinterpretations of earlier approaches.
The form of the red laquered bronze sculpture ‚Pool’ developes on two fragil column feet offering a complex viewing experience as the appearance of the work keeps changing dramatically depending on the standpoint of the viewer.

Cragg’s new coloured wood sculptures again meet up with forms and motives of bronze and stainless steel sculptures on which he started to work on some ten years ago. Within the interplay of colours, surfaces and projecting forms the viewer discovers seemingly organic shapes and structures which nevertheless remain strangely unfamiliar and cannot be connected to any experience of the everyday.
