The new projects I made in Germany became more focused on the topic of East and West. The history of Germany with the separation is very related to the separation of Korea, but Korea is still waiting for the great Reunification – a happening that culminated in Berlin/Germany at the ‘Tag der Deutschen Einheit’ which became a national holiday. My new projects are revolving much around the topic of borders, fences, refugees, and the overcoming of those. Examples of these new projects are “Grenzenlos” or “Easy Tension Relief”.
My goal always was to make people wonder, to remind them of something, and to have them ask themselves questions. Lately I am planning more public works, such as installations. I want to explore the reactions of the passer-by and the impact that my works message may have on them. Unfortunately, those temporary installations are very fleeting and only the picture documentation stays. That is why I also want to start to work with sculptures, which are much more permanent. I also want to explore more about how Germany and its people and art dealt with the reunification and what problems and scars still have to be overcome. I want to further develop my ideas.
My work has been strongly related to forgotten people, culture, and it's political problems that I like to represent my work as, "Our Generation".
